“Canada’s technology-oriented venture capital industry is struggling for survival…” Reuters

The causes of this phenomenon are likely too complex for simple digestion, but the reality is clear: though Canadian financial houses are the envy of the world – strong, sound, and steadily advancing – our technology start-ups are relatively poorly-capitalized, especially when compared to our neighbours to the south.

We all know that the businesses of tomorrow are incubating in the brains of young, creative, energetic entrepreneurs. We all know that Canadian cities are major convergence points facilitating the rise of the creative class. This convergence of capital and creativity is a windfall in waiting, but the country is letting it pass.

We launched Fundation to help connect private and institutional investors of all shapes and sizes with the creative engines of tomorrow’s Canada: start-up entrepreneurs who will create, build, and sell us our futures, leaving jobs, productivity, and a smarter and more complete society in their wakes.

Are you a technology start-up looking for funding? We’ll give you the materials you need to produce a thorough and readable business plan that investors feel comfortable with. Forget the flashy website and the wing-tipped shoes: we’ll give you a template to show the real essence of your business, your brilliance, to real investors: up-close and in-person.

Looking to invest in Canadian potential? We don’t manage or represent any of the start-ups you’ll find at a Fundation event, but our standardised due-diligence process will make it easier for you to compare companies’ ideas and business plans so you can make investment decisions without the fancy footwork and sexy language that many companies use to mask the shortcomings of their businesses. We’ll give you a chance to grill entrepreneurs, face-to-face, and with our Entrepreneur’s Code of Conduct, you can rest-assured that all our start-up partners have agreed in advance to a full, thorough, and continuous process of auditing, transparency, and disclosure.

Join us at our next event. Witness the future of the Canadian economy: it’s yours to unleash.
